Teeth extraction with Fircrest Children's Dentistry in Fircrest, WA.
A tooth extraction is a procedure used to remove a tooth that cannot be restored or is causing problems. We perform simple extractions in our office while keeping your child as comfortable as possible throughout the visit.

Why might a tooth need to be extracted?

•  Severe tooth decay
•  Infection
•  A baby tooth that is not falling out on its own
•  Overcrowding or orthodontic concerns
•  A damaged or broken tooth

Before the extraction, the area will be thoroughly numbed to help your child stay comfortable during the procedure.

Tooth Extraction Post-Operative Instructions

Following a tooth extraction, your child may experience some bleeding, soreness, or mild discomfort.

A small amount of oozing or pink saliva for the first 24 hours is normal. If your child experiences heavy bleeding that does not slow down, please call our office at 253-564-2222.

Discomfort after an extraction can usually be managed with children’s Tylenol or ibuprofen as directed. If your child experiences severe pain or swelling that continues after a few days, please contact our office.

To help the area heal properly:
•  Have your child eat soft foods for the rest of the day
•  Avoid soda and drinking through a straw for 24 hours
•  Avoid vigorous rinsing or spitting the first day
•  Encourage gentle brushing while avoiding the extraction area

After 24 hours, gentle warm saltwater rinses a few times daily can help keep the area clean and promote healing.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call our office at 253-564-2222.
